blog.

This blog will go over the different tasks I get to do when working with clients.

Blog Post 1, Moving to Texas

Back in 2023, I moved out to Texas for a short duration of time. I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and wanted to try something new. I hadn't really thought about the difficulty of getting used to a new climate. The Texas heat compared to Colorado was a lot more intense.

Once I started working, that’s when the real challenge hit. The sun in Texas is horrible, and it felt like the heat would never end and humidity only intensified everything. In Colorado, I could mow all day , but here, I was just too hot. The air quality also made things a lot harder to continue working in because there was a lot of smoke and pollution from petroleum and industrial plants.

It was hard to catch my breath, and I had to take breaks more often than I ever did back before. By the end of the day, I’d be exhausted. After just a few months of living in Texas, I decided to move back to Colorado where I am a lot more accustomed to the weather.

Last week, I was helping a client move flooring from the place where they purchased it to their house. However, 30 minutes after we left the picked up the flooring, one of the trailer wheels popped. So we stopped, fixed the flat and continued on our way, when the tire just fell off. I was actually shocked because I don't believe I have ever just had a trailer tire just fall off. The axel wasn't damaged, however, the entire wheel baring  was ruined.

At first, I thought I could just continue with three tires but I was too afraid that another tire would pop or fall off and then my trailer would really be ruined. The flooring was just too heavy.

After brainstorming solutions, me and my client decided it was best to call their two sons and they came and helped us load the flooring into his truck. This whole situation kept us all up until around 2:00 am in the morning because we still had to unload all of the flooring into the new house.

Blog Post 3, Picking Apples

I have this one client, who is such a nice older man, who always loves to have me over to help with random tasks. We will call this older man, Mr. Richards. These tasks can involve field mowing, yard work, or this most recent trip, I got to help him pick apples.

I helped him pick apples for a couple of hours and I got to take home a bag full of apples. He is such a nice man and I love getting to help him out whenever needed.

Helping Mr. Richards, turned out to be a quiet reminder that sometimes, slowing down and sharing a task is the most rewarding part of the workday. I am always in such a rush to work but sometimes life isn’t always about getting things done; sometimes, it’s about simply being present.
